Lois Vosika-Weir

My name is Lois Vosika-Weir;I am a happy to introduce myself to the AGAPE community.  My family and extended family are the great joy in my life.  They include my 3 adult children who are aged 22, 25, and 32, my son-in-law, husband and 2 grandchildren.

As a professional I hoped to have a career that involved working with teen moms, because I was a teen mother myself.I truly understand the roadblocks that young mothers experience in accomplishing their goals. More important than this understanding is my core belief that young mothers can accomplish their educational and personal goals with support, encouragement and stubborn determination. I believe that education is the most important foundation to help my children tohave the independent lives that they deserve.

I graduated from an alternative high-school in 1976 and immediately began at the University of MN at the age of 16 while I was pregnant.   I finished my Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 with a major in Youth Studies, Psychology and Chemical Dependency.  I received my Masters from Saint Mary’s University in 1995 in Counseling Psychology and later was licensed as a Psychologist.  I attended Saint Thomas University and earned my teachers license in Special Education K-12 in 1998. At this time, I am enrolled at Hamline University in the pursuit of my Administrative Principal K-12 license.

I have worked with young people in a variety of therapeutic and educational settings while  pursuing my education.   I have worked with Saint Paul Public Schools since 1995.  I am honored and thrilled to be the Program Coordinator at the AGAPE Program because I believe working with young mothers is more than simply a job, it is also a privilege.

Ms. Vosika-Weir is a licensed Psychologist, Licensed EBD Teacher and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.
