Students explore a multicultural survey of world literature encompassing a wide variety of literary genres.  Students learn how issues such as gender, class, ethnicity, and perspective have influenced literature.  In their writing, students apply appropriate language mechanics and other conventions of standard written English.  Students write for a variety of academic purposes and situations.  Students respond to literature by writing effective, original pieces.
